McCall Winter Sports Club's U16 Alpine Race Team is designed for athletes ages 14 & 15 who wish to pursue competitive alpine ski racing. Athletes will prepare for a higher-level of competition and participate in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G races and projects. This program will focus on preparing athletes to compete at the FIS level including race technique and tactics, physical conditioning, mental focus and time management. U16 athletes and coaches will travel to Intermountain Cup races; qualifiers for Western Regional and national events.
On-snow programming at Brundage Mountain runs mid-December(or as soon as open terrain allows) through early April(dependent on races & projects).
Team skis Saturdays & Sundays at Brundage beginning at 9:00am. Training will end in the afternoon dependent on training plan.
Team skis Wednesdays and Thursdays 4:30-6:30pm & Friday evenings 5:15-7:15pm at Little Ski Hill.
Holiday Race Training Camp at Brundage Mountain December 22-23 and 27-30, 2022.
Team will occasionally train weekend afternoons at Little Ski Hill and early morning at Brundage Mountain.
Athletes will participate in the USSA Intermountain Cup and other qualifying races/projects within the Western Region.
Dryland training begins mid-October and runs through mid-December.
U16 alpine ski racers must be under 16 years old as of January 1st, 2023 and a minimum of 14 years old. Some U19 athletes may participate.
Intermediate to advanced skiers with race experience.
Load, unload and ride chair lift safely.
Hard-sided helmet required.
