BRONZE!

At last week’s U.S. Ski and Snowboard Congress in Park City, McCall Winter Sports Club was awarded Podium Certification at the Bronze level.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Podium Club Certification Program requires a rigorous, mission driven self-assessment and review of best principles and practices in eight areas of organizational performance. MWSC has demonstrated appropriate levels of performance in all areas and is recognized as an important partner of U.S. Ski and Snowboard and a leader among ski and snowboard clubs in the nation.

McCall Winter Sports Club is a member club of U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the national governing body of Olympic skiing and snowboarding. Says Sophie Goldschmidt, U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO, “Our clubs are our sport’s biggest asset to athlete recruitment, development and retention, and working hand-in-hand with them will enhance their levels of achievement and will transform the performance of our athletes and teams at all levels.”

MWSC is now on the podium and in a position to pursue higher levels of distinction, but what is of most importance is the integration of these achievements at every level from the ground up.

“The Certification process not only recognizes club excellence, but also gives a clear roadmap for all clubs to become stronger organizations, says Ellen Adams U.S. Ski & Snowboard Club Development Manager. “This is a strategic part of U.S. Ski and Snowboard’s plans to support clubs, be a more club-based organization and better understand the challenges and opportunities that exist for clubs in every corner of the country.”

Going through the podium process with Adams has been very helpful and encouraging.  Many practices were validated which feels good to know. Still, there’s more potential within our reach and sight that feels even better knowing we’ve got the hearts and minds for pursuit.

Besides the next bump up on the podium to silver, MWSC promises to maintain and demonstrate excellence for all athletes, members, community, and the sport. We’ll pursue the highest objectives in our strategic plan for development, sustainability, and longevity.

Credit for this recognition reaches far beyond the club’s own abilities and doings. The support home ski areas and the ski community has given is rooted in rich history and culture that manifests new seeds and growth on a thriving and common ground. We are grateful.
